2002 Japanese Grand Prix

  • Takuma Sato (JPN) Jordan Honda EJ12 celebrates his first F1 points with a superb fifth place finish in his home GP.

  • Technical problems caused   Williams driver Juan Pablo Montoya to have this 'off' during first timed practice   for the Japanese Formula 1 Grand Prix at Suzuka. Thankfully Juan was unhurt   in the accident and gave the thumbs up when he eventually came to a halt! (No   1 of 4)
  • The Jordan team celebrate Takuma Sato (JPN) Jordan scoring his first F1 points with a superb fifth place in his home GP.

  • Unfortunately lap 37 saw the   end of the race for Jordan's Giancarlo Fisichella during the Japanese Formula   1 Grand Prix at Suzuka.
  • McLaren's David Coulthard   retired on lap 7 of the Japanese Formula 1 Grand Prix at Suzuka. He went on   to thank all his mechanics for their work with him in 2002.

  • McLaren Mercedes driver Kimi   Raikkonen suffers an off during Saturday practice session for the US Formula   1 Grand Prix at Indianapolis. He went on to set the 6th fastest time of the   day in the later qualifying session.
  • Technical problems ended Minardi's   Alex Yoong's race on lap 46 of the US Formula 1 Grand Prix at Indianapolis.

  • An eventful qualifying session   for Jordan's Takuma Sato and McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen! A 'coming together' between   the two drivers resulted in broken suspension for Sato followed by a nasty spin   and crash, Kimi also ended up in the gravel. Sato on a hot lap at the time blamed   Kimi for causing the accident and not moving over for him as Kimi was on an   out lap. Afterwards Sato had words with Kimi and Ron Dennis in the McLaren garage   where a discussion took place about who was to blame f
  • A small 'touch' between Sauber's   Felipe Massa and Jaguar's Pedro de la Rosa turned into a big problem! Damage   was caused to both cars and de la Rosa retired on lap 15, Massa lap 16. (No   2 of 2)
  • Juan Pablo Montoya (COL) Williams set the fastest ever pole position lap of 161.175mph average but retired from the race.

  • Laying down rubber outside   the Jaguar garage during practice for the Hungarian Formula 1 Grand Prix at   the Hungaroring!
  • BAR's Jaques Villeneuve shows   some skills during the qualifying session for the Hungarian Formula 1 Grand   Prix at the Hungaroring! After losing it and ending up spinning, he then regained   the control of the car, span another 360 degrees and calmly carried on around   the track. After his on track antics he went on to set the 13th fastest time   of the day. (No 3 of 3)
  • Saturday's qualifying session   had a few ups and downs for Renault's Jenson Button! He went onto set the 9th   fastest time of the day.
  • Ferrari fans celebrate the 1-2 finish and a fourth consecutive Constructors' Championship.

The Williams driver went on to   retire on the final lap and qualify 7th, whilst Trulli and his Renault finished   in 6th place. (No 1 of 2)

  • A narrow escape for Rubens   Barrichello as he comes too close for comfort to the Toyota of Mika Salo. Unfortunately   this incident did result in the Ferrari ending up in the gravel trap (No 2 of   2).
  • On board with Jordan's Giancarlo   Fisichella during qualifying for the Austrian Formula 1 Grand Prix at the A1   Ring in Spielberg. He set the 15th fastest time in Saturday's qualifying session.

2002 Spanish Grand Prix

  • Red flags had to be waved   after this incident with Minardi's Alex Yoong. The Malaysian suffered front   wing failure during qualifying for the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix at Circuit   de Catalunya. The Minardi qualified in last place (Front View Pic 3 of 3).
  • On board with Spain's Pedro   de la Rosa in the Jaguar R3 during qualifying for the Spanish Formula 1 Grand   Prix at Circuit de Catalunya. The Spanish driver qualified 17th fastest.

  • Drama during a Williams Juan Pablo Montoya pit stop during the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix at Circuit de Catalunya. The lollipop man signalled to Montoya to go before the refueller man had finished. Montoya realised but not before dragging the fuel man away with him and running over the foot of chief mechanic Carl Gaden (lollipop man). All concerned are thankfully understood to be bruised but nothing broken (Pic 3 of 3).

  • On board with McLaren's Kimi   Raikkonen on a very wet track during Friday practice for the San Marino Formula   1 Grand Prix in Imola. The Finn went on to set the 5th fastest time of the day.
  • Michael Schumacher (GER) Ferrari F2002 made the perfect start and won the 56th race of his career.

  • Ferrari's Michael Schumacher   finishes Saturday's qualifying for the San Marino Formula 1 Grand Prix in Imola   in Pole Position. The German driver set a fastest time of 1min 21.091secs.

2002 Brazilian Grand Prix

  • Renualt's Jenson Button prepares   for the race on the grid. He had a very solid race and finished in 4th place   at the Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix in Interlagos.
  • Ferrari's Michael Schumacher   and Jean Todt keep an eye on the times being set during qualifying for the Brazilian   Formula 1 Grand Prix in Interlagos. Michael later went on to set the second   fastest time of the day.
  • Lap 1 of the Brazilian Formula   1 Grand Prix in Interlagos saw Juan Pablo Montoya touch the back of the Ferrari   of Michael Schumacher. Montoya who originally started on pole finished the race   in 5th position, Michael Schumacher went on to win the race.
  • Trouble for Takuma Sato during   Saturday practice as he spun his Jordan and damaged the nose section on his   car. He later went on to set the 19th fastest time of the day during qualifying   for the Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix in Interlagos. Sato had to wander back   to the pit lane.

  • Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello   celebrates at setting the pole position time of 1:25.843 for tomorrow's Australian   Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne.
  • Disaster for Jacques Villeneuve   as his race ends on lap 25 of the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne.
  • The Ferrari of Michael Schumacher   overtakes the Williams of Juan Pablo Montoya during the Australian Formula 1   Grand Prix in Melbourne. Montoya finished second while Schumacher won the race.
