  • Good afternoon and welcome to the first European race of 2009, here in Spain
  • Five lights, and we're poised to start
  • Barrichello forces ahead of Button, while Massa squeezes past Vettel
  • Chaos ensues through turns 2 & 3, as Trulli collides with Sutil and both Toro Rosso drivers come together, forcing all out of the race and a Safety Car
  • The wreckage of Sutil's Force India, flames licking from the huge impact

  • Barrichello leads Button and Massa behind the Safety Car
  • The Safety Car comes back in on lap 4
  • On the restart, Alonso has a look down the inside of Webber, but the Red Bull driver does well to defend his spot
  • Hamilton, having luckily avoided the earlier accident, pushes past Piquet on the start straight
  • Kovalainen pulls in to retire with a gearbox problem on Lap 8
  • Heidfeld in 9th is coming under enormous pressure from Raikkonen, who has Kubica and Hamilton in tow himself
  • Button pits from 2nd place as the Brawn's try to pull away from the chasing pack
  • Raikkonen's car grinds to a halt with technical problems
  • Race leader Barrichello pulls in for his first stop, emerging just ahead of Rosberg, who is yet to stop
  • Massa and Vettel both dive in at once, with the Ferrari driver exiting the pits in front
  • Barrichello makes his second stop on lap 31, suggesting a three-stop strategy
  • Heidfeld and Hamilton, both appearing to be on similar strategies, make their stops on lap 31 also
  • Hamilton comes out just ahead of a tight squabble between Glock and Kubica
  • Massa sits in second chasing Button, but the Brit is pulling away
  • Lap 44, and Massa comes in for his second stop
  • Alonso makes his second stop and rejoins just ahead of Hamilton, bravely fending off the McLaren's advances
  • Button stops from the lead of the race, returning behind Barrichello and Webber who both have another stop each
  • Barrichello and Webber pit at the same time, and leave in the order they entered
  • Drama for Massa as his race engineers inform him that he needs to conserve fuel or risk not finishing, but has Vettel right on his tail
  • Eventually Massa has to wield to the German, and soon Alonso catches and scythes past
  • Brawn GP's Jenson Button continues his stream of victories here in Spain, with Barrichello completing a one-two
  • Another excellent result for the Brawn GP team, who now lead the Constructers Championship by 29.5 points
  • Mark Webber makes up the top three, a brilliant drive finishing ahead of team mate Vettel
  • Button celebrates race win number four, and leads the Drivers Championship by 14 points heading into Monaco in two weeks
