Paddock Postcard from Barcelona
Its been a busy week in Barcelona, opening with the popular pit lane visit on Thursday morning and afternoon which was followed by a tribute to triple world champion Nelson Piquet at the Avenue of Champions in the main grandstand.
The Brazilian, who will later watch his son race, won his titles in 1981, 83 and 87 and joined other great motorsport names as he became figure number 12 to be engraved in the special Hall of Fame.
Other familiar faces present this weekend include Riccardo Patrese, former Ferrari driver Patrick Tambay, former MotoGP star Randy Mamola, Sir Jackie Stewart and Christian Danner.
Saturdays GP2 race resulted in a well judged victory for Alvaro Parente of Super Nova, who was chased home by last years winner, iSport Internationals Bruno Senna and Piquet Sports Andreas Zuber.
The first Formula BMW race resulted in victory for Adrien Tambay, Patricks son, who fended off a race-long challenge from Daniel Juncadella and Esteban Gutierez.
The show opened early at the Circuit de Catalunya on Sunday morning, with the 24 giant screens around the track showing early risers the movie Stormbreaker and 20 minutes of footage from the film Asterix at the Olympic Games, which features Ferrari's Michael Schumacher and Jean Todt.
