The British American Racing team will use Michelin tyres in 2004 after reaching an amicable agreement to cease their Bridgestone contract with immediate effect.

"We would like to thank Bridgestone for the excellent technical partnership we have enjoyed with them over the past five years," said BAR team boss David Richards. "We wish them well for the 2004 Championship and beyond."

Bridgestone Motorsport Director, Hiroshi Yasukawa, added: "Whilst Bridgestone is naturally disappointed not to continue its working relationship with the BAR Formula one team, we wish them the best of luck in their future endeavours."

BAR will have their first test on their new rubber at Barcelona this week, where they will run alongside former Bridgestone colleagues Ferrari and Sauber.

The change means that Michelin will be supplying 60 per cent of the Formula One teams next season - BAR, Williams, McLaren, Renault, Toyota and Jaguar. Bridgestone will continue to supply Ferrari, Sauber, Jordan and Minardi.
