|
The coming week will be another busy one for the Formula One teams, with two major test sessions taking place at Jerez and Barcelona in Spain as preparations for the 2004 season continue.
At Barcelona, Kimi Raikkonen will get his first taste of McLaren's 2004 challenger, the MP4-19, following the car's promising debut in the hand's of David Coulthard last week.
Renault's three-day Barcelona schedule will be led by test driver Franck Montagny. The Frenchman will be joined by two members of Renault's driver-development programme, Jose Maria Lopez and Heikki Kovalainen (see separate story).
McLaren and Renault will both run from Tuesday to Thursday, while Jaguar and Toyota will stay on for Friday as well. In the cockpit for Toyota will be test drivers Ryan Briscoe and Ricardo Zonta, while Jaguar have reportedly asked Austrian youngster Christian Klein back for a second test following his impressive debut with the team last week.
Meanwhile, at Jerez the names Piquet and Rosberg will once again appear on the side of a Williams Formula One car, when Nelsinho and Nico, respective sons of former champions Nelson and Keke, test for the team alongside regulars Ralf Schumacher and Marc Gene (see separate story). Williams' programme is due to run from Tuesday to Thursday.
Jordan will be at Jerez from Wednesday to Friday, with Nick Heidfeld appearing for the team as they consider their 2004 driver options. Heidfeld, who lost his Sauber contract at the end of this season, will be joined for two of the three days by 20-year old Czech driver Jarek Janis.
Also continuing their 2004 development programmes at Jerez will be Ferrari and BAR. Please note all schedules are provisional and subject to change.
