Barrichello takes pole in the first qualifying session. 07 Mar 2003

After the first qualifying session in Melbourne, Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello took first position and will therefore run last in Saturday's second session - which determines grid position for the race. Kimi Raikkonen finished second for McLaren and Jacques Villeneuve took third for BAR. The rest of the top six places were made up by Michael Schumacher (Ferrari), Jenson Button (BAR) and David Coulthard (McLaren). Saturday's qualifying session starts at 1400 local time, 0300 GMT.
