BAR finished last weeks test session in Mugello at the top of the timesheets. Test driver Takuma Sato finished just ahead of team mate Jacques Villeneuve, the French Canadian mostly carrying out tyre development tests for Bridgestone.

Antonio Pizzonia finished third, completing 85 laps in the Jaguar in the knowledge that this performance at this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix will be under heavy scrutiny from Jaguar team bosses.

Cristiano da Matta finished the final session in fourth and last place having concentrated on aerodynamic packages and mechanical set up.

All four drivers were covered by just half a second however, proof, if it was needed, that the competition in the midfield is as close as ever.

Over at Fiorano, Luca Badoer conducted a tyre testing session for Ferrari and Bridgestone. After completing over 100 laps, the Italian test driver went on to shakedown one of the F2003-GAs which will be used by the team at the Spanish Grand Prix.
