Practice crash for Button in Monaco
|
The second session of free practice was stopped after minutes in Monaco this morning when Jenson Button crashed his BAR approaching the chicane. For reasons as yet unknown the car spun in the braking area well before the tight corner, and hit the tyre wall at the escape road sideways at speed.
Button remained in the cockpit until medical assistance arrived, and having been removed on his safety seat was taken to hospital for checks. He was seen to be moving in the cockpit and talking to FIA medical delegate Dr Sid Watkins.
First reports indicate that Button is okay, and we will update when further information about his condition is known. Button was second fastest to Mark Webber on Thursday morning and third behind the Ferraris in the afternoon. This morning he had set the seventh fastest time before his accident.
