Hello and welcome to the first day of the Grand Prix of Europe weekend here at the Nurburgring.

As local hero Nick Heidfeld recently remarked, the Eifel region is famous for its unsettled weather, and the indications are that it will be capricious over the next few days.

At present it is beautifully hot, with temperatures in the mid to high 20s (C), humidity of 29 per cent, unlimited visibility and a gentle east north-easterly wind, but scattered showers are expected this evening.

Tomorrow there is a 50 per cent chance of rain in the form of scattered thunderstorms, and there is a 30 per cent chance of continued showers on Saturday.

Race day, however, should be similar today, and currently there is zero likelihood of rain.
