Organisers of the forthcoming Hungarian and United States Grands Prix are offering fans the chance to get even closer to the action at this year's events with visits to the Formula One pit lane.

Weekend grandstand ticket holders for the Hungaroring round of the championship (August 22-24) will be able to participate in a pit-lane walkabout on the Thursday evening (1600 to 1900 local time) prior to the Grand Prix weekend.

This will allow fans to stand opposite the open team garages and get a clear view of their favourite cars being worked on as they undergo preparations for Friday's first test and practice sessions.

And in a similar move, holders of race day tickets for September's Indianapolis race will also be allowed access to the pit lane on the Thursday morning between 0800 and 1200 local time.

"The pit walkabout will provide United States Grand Prix fans with an up-close look at the technology and intricacies of a Formula One team," said Indianapolis Motor Speedway's Joie Chitwood. "We're pleased to offer increased accessibility to the inner workings of F1."

The 2003 United States Grand Prix meeting will take place on September 26-28.
