Tuesday 19th August is a crucial day in the 2003 Formula One season, as the drivers' and constructors' championships near their climax. It is the day that Williams will be contesting the decision that saw Ralf Schumacher blamed for the accident at the start of the recent German Grand Prix. The incident, which took place immediately after the start, saw Kimi Raikkonen and Rubens Barrichello crash at the first corner.

To reflect the event's importance, Formula One Management have arranged for the hearing to be filmed by RTL Television GmbH. This makes the event totally unique: it is the first time TV cameras have been permitted inside a hearing at the FIA International Court of Appeal in Paris, motorsport's highest court of appeal.

The decision, which will have dramatic consequences for Ralf Schumacher's championship hopes, is due the following day. Should Williams' appeal fail, Schumacher will be forced to drop ten grid slots on his qualifying position for this Sunday's Hungarian Grand Prix.
