Williams to trial 2005 hopefuls
|
Anthony Davidson and Nick Heidfeld will test for Williams next month as the team bids to finalise their line-up for next season.
Davidson, third driver with BAR in 2004, will take to the track at Jerez in Spain from Wednesday December 1. Heidfeld, who raced for Jordan this year, will test the following week, also at Jerez, commencing Thursday December 9.
According to a statement from Williams, the tests are intended to assist the process of determining the team's full driver line-up for 2005.
So far, Mark Webber has the only confirmed Williams race seat for next season. Webber, a Jaguar driver this year, will kick off the BMW-powered teams winter test programme at Barcelona on Wednesday November 24, alongside regular tester Antonio Pizzonia.
Both Davidson and Heidfeld are highly regarded Formula One drivers. Davidson was a regular pacesetter in Friday practice this year, but has limited Grand Prix experience, having taken part in just two races, with Minardi, back in 2002.
Heidfeld, meanwhile, is highly experienced. A former Formula 3000 champion and McLaren test driver, he has 85 Grand Prix starts to his credit, with his best result a third place in Brazil in 2001 with Sauber.
