Following Monday’s news of the sale of engine makers Cosworth, Minardi have reconfirmed that they will be powered by the company’s TJ V10 engines in 2005. However, the team’s new car will not make its debut at the season opener in Melbourne.

“Due to the timing of the announcement, the team will be seeking to operate its 2004 car and engine package for the first three races of the new season,” said Minardi in a statement, after it was confirmed that Kevin Kalkhoven and Gerald Forsythe, co-owners of the American Champ Car Series, had purchased Cosworth from Ford.

Jordan, the third team along with Minardi and Jaguar to use Cosworth power in 2004, announced earlier on Monday that they have secured a supply of Toyota engines for next season.
