Early Williams run for Heidfeld
|
Nick Heidfeld makes his test debut with Williams at Jerez today (Wednesday), a week earlier than originally planned. The German drivers session was brought forward after BAR blocked Anthony Davidsons scheduled test with the team.
Heidfeld, who competed for Jordan in 2004, is under consideration for a 2005 Williams race seat, along with the teams test driver Antonio Pizzonia, to partner the already confirmed Mark Webber.
Webber and Pizzonia were at Jerez on Tuesday, as Williams ran solo in the weeks first day of testing at the Spanish circuit. Both men worked on set-up, as well as long runs to evaluate tyres and BMW engine components, completing over 150 laps between them.
Williams are expected to be joined at the track on Wednesday by Sauber, Red Bull, Toyota, Renault, Jordan, Ferrari, BAR and McLaren.
Unofficial Tuesday times from Jerez: 1. Mark Webber, Williams (Michelin), 1:19.015 2. Antonio Pizzonia, Williams (Michelin), 1:19.036
