Sunday January 16 is when the public will get its first glimpse of the car BAR hope will bring them their maiden Grand Prix win, as well as their first world championship.

The 007 is to be officially launched at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya. The new car will be the first since engine suppliers Honda revealed plans to purchase a 45 percent stake in the British team.

Since the announcement of the Honda buy-in in November, the team have commenced a phased management transition which will see the departure of boss David Richards, with Nick Fry taking on the role of Chief Executive.

Geoff Willis remains as technical director and is currently overseeing the team's testing and development programme for the 007, which includes the use of an interim, hybrid ‘concept’ car.

The black and silver development machine, which has been in action at Jerez this week, consists of the front section of the 2004-spec 006 and the rear end of the new car, housing a 2005 specification Honda engine, a new gearbox and rear suspension assembly.

BAR enjoyed their most successful season to date in 2004, finishing second to Ferrari in the constructors’ championship and claiming 11 podium finishes. The team retain their driver line-up of Jenson Button and Takuma Sato for 2005.
