Williams test for ETC champion Priaulx 06 Dec 2004
Reigning European Touring Car champion Andy Priaulx got more than he bargained for at this weekends 2004 BMW Motorsport party - the chance to test a Williams Formula One car.
BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen made the announcement in front of 650 guests, including team boss Frank Williams, and at the same time revealed that Guernsey-born Priaulx is to receive BMW works backing in next years FIA World Touring Car Championship.
Priaulx, 30, raced in Formula Three before switching to touring cars in 2001. As well as competing he oversees BMWs driver education and coaching programme in Britain as chief instructor for the Formula BMW UK Championship.
A date for his test was not revealed, but with the final major session of 2004 taking place at Jerez this week, it is expected to be some time in the New Year.
