Jerez Day Five - Sato shines in wet 16 Feb 2004
Just three cars were on track at Jerez on Saturday for a special wet-weather tyre session with suppliers Michelin. Fastest of them was the BAR of Takuma Sato, who outpaced the Williams of Juan Pablo Montoya by close to a second.
Sato completed over 100 laps of the Spanish circuit on his way to a best time of 1m 25.737s, while Montoya, at the wheel of the FW26, clocked up just under 90 laps with a fastest time of 1m 26.665s.
Montoya was joined at Williams by newly-appointed test driver Antonio Pizzonia, who completed the timesheets in an FW25, with a best lap of 1m 28.570s on the artificially dampened track.
Williams will run solo at Jerez on Sunday with Pizzonia to bring the week's testing there to a close.
