Weather update - dry qualifying in prospect 05 Mar 2004
Welcome to qualifying day for the first round of the 2004 FIA Formula One World Championship here in Melbourne.
Currently it's cloudy with a temperature of 22C, which is expected to rise to 27C as the day goes on. The chance of rain, predicted earlier in the week, has now switched to tomorrow, when a high of only 18C is anticipated.
The locals, however, warn about taking weather forecasts here too seriously. One official said yesterday: "We have a saying here in Melbourne: 'If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes and it will have changed.”
