Day 3 - Fiorano marathon for Fisichella 30 Apr 2004
Giancarlo Fisichella ran nearly 170 laps of the Fiorano circuit on Thursday as he brought the Sauber team's three-day test programme at the Italian venue to a close.
After having his Wednesday session cut short by a technical problem, Fisichella made up for it with 167 tours of the Italian track, recording a best time of 57.315s in fine conditions.
"Today Felipe was able to run some more Bridgestone tyre compound tests with regard to the next races and further evaluated brakes and dampers, explained race engineer Giampaolo Dall'Ara. He has worked hard and ran a lot of laps, thanks to which we finally could complete our scheduled test programme for this week.
"Overall we can say that we did a lot of mileage those days which provided valuable data for us. We now feel much more confident concerning low-speed tracks like Monaco which was the main target of our work here in Fiorano. In addition we were able to achieve good results referring to the brake performance on high-demanding tracks such as Montreal."
Saubers next test will be at Silverstone from May 11 to 13.
