Today (Wednesday) will see Fernando Alonso attend the official judging and prize-giving for Renault Spain's road safety campaign, for which he acts as ambassador and spokesman.

The campaign has been initiated throughout Renault's European markets, and challenges schoolchildren to design a new road safety poster and slogan for Renault. The winning design will form the basis of a major advertising campaign.

"I am a racing driver, so my job is to race and be as fast as possible," explained Alonso. "But I am also young, and enjoy spending time with my friends. When we go out and need to drive, we take no risks at all. As an F1 driver, I would encourage all young people to become ambassadors for safety, and to set a good example to everybody."

On Wednesday, children from the finalist schools will attend the judging ceremony in Madrid, where the jury - including Alonso - will select the winning poster before the official prize-giving.
