Verstappen to test with Jordan in June 05 May 2004
Dutch driver Jos Verstappen had a seat fitting at the Jordan factory on Wednesday in preparation for a test drive with the team at Silverstone next month.
Verstappen was linked with a Jordan race drive before the start of this season and long-term personal backer Trust are also a Jordan sponsor this year.
The 2003 Minardi driver was accompanied on the visit by his manager Raymond Vermeulen, who explained: "People should not jump to any conclusions about this, it just follows on from the conversation that (Trusts ) Michel Perridon and Eddie Jordan had earlier in Dordrecht, with Ian Phillips and me. It is good to see that Jos will be driving a F1 car again, and we look forward to seeing how the test goes and whether it helps for the future."
Of his Formula One return, Verstappen commented: "I still don't know what to expect from this test. We will see at the beginning of June. If everything goes as planned I will be testing for the whole day at Silverstone. But first let's concentrate on having my seat done.
Team boss Eddie Jordan added: "I think it is fantastic that this test will offer Jos some attention in Formula One and I am happy that this has been done with the cooperation of our loyal sponsor Trust. I believe Jos has a future in Formula One and I hope that this test will be positive and helpful in some way with regards to that future."
Verstappen will test alone at Silverstone on June 1 and Jordans race drivers Nick Heidfeld and Giorgio Pantano will continue the three-day session on June 2 and 3 at the Northamptonshire circuit.
