Formula One cars to come to London
Top teams prepare to take to the capital's streets
The centre of London will reverberate to the sound of Formula One cars next month when eight of the teams take part in a demonstration run in the build-up to the British Grand Prix.
The run, along Londons famous Regent Street in the heart of the West End, will take place on Tuesday July 6, between 1800 and 2000 local time (1700 and 1900 GMT). The teams expected to participate are BAR, Williams, Ferrari, Jaguar, Jordan, McLaren, Minardi and Toyota.
Huge crowds are expected for the free event, which will obviously necessitate the closure of Regent Street and surrounding roads to normal traffic. Given the close proximity of the Formula One cars, spectators, especially children, are advised to bring ear protectors.
The shops on Regent Street will be staying open late on the evening of the demonstration run and all proceeds from the event will go to the arts in Londons Westminster district. The British Grand Prix takes place at Silverstone on July 11.
