Silverstone grid penalty for Fisichella 09 Jul 2004
Disappointment for Sauber after strong practice pace
Sauber driver Giancarlo Fisichella will be forced to drop ten places on the grid for Sundays British Grand Prix after an engine change was required on his car during Friday practice.
Fisichella coasted to a halt late in the day's opening session at Silverstone and the Swiss team were forced to replace his cars Petronas V10. The move means he will start Sundays race ten places down on his actual qualifying position.
The Italian was ultimately second fastest on Friday, going just 0.005s slower than McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen in the afternoon's session. The two men are joint tenth in the drivers championship standings on ten points each.
