Welcome to raceday here at Hockenheim, where the German Grand Prix, the 12th round of the 2004 FIA Formula One World Championship, starts at 1400 local time (1200 GMT).

After all the concerns, the rain never came yesterday and the forecast for today is excellent. At this early hour the sky is silver blue as the night clouds dissipate, and it will be hotter than initially expected. Earlier in the week a temperature high of 27 degrees Celsius was predicted, but this will now be closer to 31, and therefore very similar to Friday, with humidity to match.
