Villeneuve drops in on Sauber 20 Aug 2004
Former champion weighing his options for next year?
Jacques Villeneuve visited the Sauber factory earlier this week. Villeneuve has made no secret of his desire to return to Formula One racing and the Swiss team has a vacant race seat for 2005.
During his visit to their Hinwil base, Villeneuve checked out the teams facilities and chatted with boss Peter Sauber, who has already stressed this week that he will not be rushing into any decisions regarding a replacement for the Renault-bound Giancarlo Fisichella.
Villeneuve left BAR with one race to go at the end of 2003 after learning that he was to be replaced by Japanese driver Takuma Sato. The 33-year-old Canadian made his Formula One debut with Williams in 1996, winning the drivers championship the following year before switching to BAR for the 1999 season.
