Minardi will give Formula One tests to Australian youngsters Will Power and Will Davison later this year, keeping a promise made by team boss Paul Stoddart at the end of 2003.

Both Power and Davidson, along with the team’s currently contracted testers, Portuguese driver Tiago Monteiro and Russian Sergey Zlobin, will test with Minardi over the next two and a half months.

"The taste we can give them through a test drive will not guarantee they get to F1,” said Stoddart when he initially made the promise. “But it should be very good experience for them.”

Davison, Power and Zlobin will all take to the Vallelunga circuit in Italy on November 9-10, while Zlobin will also test there earlier with Monteiro on September 2-3. In addition, Minardi will be participating in the multi-team session at Monza from September 1-3, with team regulars Zsolt Baumgartner, Gianmaria Bruni and Bas Leinders at the wheel.

Davison and Power have competed in the British Formula Three series during the last two seasons, with mixed results. Davison, 21, from Melbourne, took one victory at Croft last year, while Power, 23, has won twice this season.

In a related development, Minardi have announced that their two-seater F1x2 Formula One cars will be running at a special event on September 4-5 at the Lodrino di Biasca airbase in Switzerland. Bruni, Baumgartner, Leinders and former Grand Prix driver Christian Danner will participate and it will be the first time the cars have run in the country.
