Opening practice cancelled due to fog

Heavy fog in the Spa-Francorchamps region caused Saturday's first practice session for the Belgian Grand Prix to be abandoned.

Reduced visibility meant that it was not considered safe for the medical helicopter to fly hence the cars were not allowed out.

It has been, and still is, raining heavily at Spa. The start of the session was twice delayed by 15 minutes before being abandoned completely. The second session should start on time, conditions permitting.

Mario Thiessen (GER) BMW Motorsport Technical Director is interviewed by French TV in the pitlane.
