Pre-Suzuka testing schedule 28 Sep 2004
There may only be two races of the 2004 season left, but that doesnt mean the teams wont be hard at work this week in preparation for the forthcoming Japanese Grand Prix.
The major session takes place at the Spanish circuit of Jerez from Tuesday to Thursday, and with many of the teams race drivers opting to stay in Asia between the China and Japan rounds, it will be largely test drivers at the wheel.
Expected to run at Jerez are Luca Badoer for Ferrari, Marc Gene and Antonio Pizzonia for Williams, and Pedro de la Rosa and Alexander Wurz for McLaren. Also due to test in Spain are Toyota, who will give Jarno Trulli his first full test with the team, and Renault.
Toyota will also be making use of two men from their Drivers Academy. Frenchman Franck Perera and Japanese Katsuyuki Hiranaka will carry out aerodynamic work on the straight at the Vairano circuit in Italy on September 28-29, in order to evaluate parts for the final two races of the season.
Ferrari are also expected to run a second programme at Fiorano in Italy, with the Ferrari Maserati Group's competition test driver Andrea Bertolini putting the F2004 through its paces.
Note, all schedules are provisional and subject to change.
