Red Bull sign up Klien and Liuzzi 05 Jan 2005
Christian Klien or Vitantonio Liuzzi could be David Coulthards Red Bull team mate for the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, following news that both men have agreed identical contracts.
According to Red Bull Racing, Klien, who competed for Jaguar in 2004, and Liuzzi, the reigning Formula 3000 champion, will both race and test for the team during the coming season.
The two young hopefuls have each signed one-year contracts, both with renewal options. The team will decide which of them races in Melbourne once they have completed further pre-season test sessions, the first of which will take place in Barcelona from February 18.
Red Bull, who will launch their new car at Jerez on February 7, need a Friday test driver for Grand Prix meetings, as well as someone to partner Coulthard. Klien is not eligible for the third driver role, the Austrian having competed in too many races in 2004.
