Newey moving to Red Bull 08 Nov 2005
Top Formula One designer Adrian Newey is leaving McLaren to become Red Bulls Chief Technical Officer. The Austrian-owned team confirmed on Tuesday that Newey will take up his new position at the end of February 2006.
Newey is widely regarded as one of the sports finest aerodynamicists. After achieving championship success with Williams, he joined McLaren in 1997 and helped bring them the constructors title in 1998. His design team was also behind this years fastest car, the MP4-20.
Newey was the subject of controversy back in 2001 when he accepted an offer to join Jaguar, the team that ultimately became Red Bull, before deciding to stay on with McLaren after the move had been announced.
