MF1’s third driver Nicky Pastorelli will not be testing in Spain this week after he revealed that his 2006 seat with the team could be in doubt due to problems with one of his backers.

Pastorelli was the first driver to be announced by MF1 for next season, but now the Dutchman’s management have been told that one of his key investors has pulled out due to personal reasons. As a result, Pastorelli has opted not to test at Jerez.

"Of course it is a pity,” he told his official website. “Maybe there is a way to solve this problem shortly, but maybe not. At this point I won't burden the team unnecessarily with this test if it is not clear if there is a future for me with Midland F1."

MF1 are running 2006 racers Christijan Albers and Tiago Monteiro at Jerez, as well as trying out a number of number of new drivers.
