Satisfactory track debut for Ferrari F2005 02 Mar 2005
Badoer emotional after first laps in new machine
Ferraris 2005 challenger, the F2005, made its first testing appearance at the Mugello circuit in Italy on Tuesday, with Italian test driver Luca Badoer behind the wheel.
The new car, which was officially launched last Friday, is expected to make its race debut in Spain in May. Badoer completed a total of 61 laps, with a fastest time of 1m 22.210s.
"When a new car takes its first steps, it is always a very emotional moment," said Badoer afterwards. "This morning there was obviously some tension, which quickly lifted, going out on the track and seeing that everything is fine. After these initial laps, I can say that we are satisfied."
Ferrari and Badoer will continue testing the F2005 at Mugello on Wednesday.
