Renault’s engine technical director Rob White is to become joint deputy managing director of the team following news that Bernard Dudot is to retire at the start of April.

White, who will retain responsibility for all technical programmes, will share the position at Renault’s Viry-Chatillon engine plant with Andre Laine, who also assumes responsibility for support operations.

“Our team’s strength lies in its personnel, and I am confident that Rob and Andre will continue to enable our team at Viry to achieve its potential,” said Flavio Briatore. “The excellent collaboration between our technical groups in France and England has been reflected in the performance of this year’s car and engine, and will prove critical in the coming seasons as we strive to achieve our ambitious objectives.”

Paying tribute to Dudot, Renault team President Patrick Faure added: “I would like to thank Bernard for his contribution to the team: he re-joined Renault F1 Team at a critical time in our programme, and has played a key role in our successes during the past two seasons. I wish him well in his retirement, which I am confident will be extremely active!”

Renault head into this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix, round two of the 2005 FIA Formula One World Championship, leading the constructor standings by eight points from Ferrari.
