Barrichello positive after first F2005 test 23 Mar 2005
Rubens Barrichello became the first of Ferraris two race drivers to sample the teams new car on Tuesday when he tested the F2005 at the Mugello circuit in Italy.
In Ferraris second day of testing this week at the track, Barrichello began work at 0915 in the morning went on to complete a total of 95 laps as he got to grips with the new machine.
"Days like these always give you a nice feeling," commented the Brazilian afterwards, when you drive a new car for the first time, especially when it's a Ferrari. First impressions count and I am very happy with how it felt to drive the F2005. It is definitely quicker than the F2004 M and represents a step forward in every area."
Ferrari continue testing at Mugello on Wednesday, when it will be Michael Schumacher making his debut at the wheel of the F2005.
If testing goes well this week, Ferrari could introduce the new car at the next round of the season in Bahrain on April 1-3. After two races the team are joint fourth with Williams in the constructors championship on ten points apiece.
