Qualifying penalty for Ralf Schumacher 19 May 2005
Toyota driver Ralf Schumacher has received a time penalty for the second time in three events after a tyre mix-up in Thursday practice at Monaco ahead of this weekend's Grand Prix.
Schumacher will have half a second added to his aggregate qualifying time for reportedly using a front-left tyre that had not been officially allocated to him.
Tyre suppliers Michelin blamed the mistake on human error. The penalty could prove costly as grid position is all important at Monaco due to the extreme difficulty in overtaking around the narrow streets of the Monte Carlo circuit.
Schumacher had 25 seconds added to his race time at last months San Marino Grand Prix following an unsafe manoeuvre in the pit lane.
