Ferrari testing on two fronts 01 Sep 2005
World champions Ferrari were in action at two circuits on Wednesday as they finalised their preparations for this weekends Italian Grand Prix.
At Fiorano, Marc Gene carried out a shakedown of the cars the team will be using for their home race at Monza. The Spaniard completed a total of 34 laps, five of them on the short version of the track, with a best time of 1m 01.497s.
It was a busy day for Gene - he also alternated with fellow test driver Luca Badoer at the wheel of an F2005 at the nearby Mugello circuit. At the Tuscan track, the pair worked on a programme of Bridgestone tyre development aimed at the rest of this season.
At Monza, Ferrari will be hoping to rediscover the form they enjoyed on their last home outing, when Michael Schumacher lost out on victory to Fernando Alonso by just 0.2 seconds in Aprils San Marino Grand Prix at the Italian circuit of Imola.
