BMW Sauber press on at Valencia 19 Jan 2006
With their rivals hard at work at Jerez, Nick Heidfeld and Jacques Villeneuve continued BMW Saubers 2006 preparations at Valencia on Wednesday, using the teams new car and last years Sauber.
Having given the car its maiden outing on Tuesday, it was again Heidfeld behind the wheel of the new F1.06. The German clocked up 68 laps as the team focussed on set-up and accruing engine and gearbox data.
Villeneuve, who will get his first taste of the F1.06 on Thursday, continued in the V8-powered C24B. The former champion completed 92 laps, concentrating on systems checks and Michelin tyre evaluations.
Encouragingly for the team, it was again the new car which set the quicker time, with Heidfeld recording a best of 1m 12.440s to Villeneuves 1m 13.422s.
