FIA receive half of Turkish fine
The FIA has accepted US$2.5 million from the organisers of the Turkish Grand Prix (MSO), which it says removes MSOs liability in respect of the US$5 million fine handed out following Augusts race. The outstanding sum is still owed by the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED).
TOSFED has appealed against the fine. A hearing will take place at the International Court of Appeal in Paris on Tuesday, November 7, with a decision expected on November 8.
The fine was imposed after irregularities during the podium ceremony at the 2006 Turkish Grand Prix. Mr Mehmet Ali Talat was invited to present the winners trophy and introduced as president of the Turkish Cypriot state, which is only recognised by Turkey.
