New title sponsor for Australian Grand Prix 02 Nov 2006
Australian Grand Prix organisers have announced a new three-year naming rights partnership with financial services company ING. The first FORMULA 1 ING Australian Grand Prix will take place in Melbourne from March 15-18, 2007.
ING, who last month also just confirmed a three-year deal to become the Renault teams title sponsor, take the place of departing race backers Fosters.
ING are a truly global brand with a strong Australian presence and we are delighted with our new partnership, said Australian Grand Prix Corporation Chairman, Ronald J Walker, AC CBE.
Paul Bedbrook, CEO of ING Australia added: Formula One is truly an arena where the most powerful cars and the most talented drivers come together. It makes good sense for ING to be aligned with a sport that embraces such high performance and innovation.
The Melbourne race returns to its traditional slot of season opener next season, having been temporarily moved in 2006 to avoid a clash with the Commonwealth Games in the city.
