Nakajima sets his sights on a race seat for 2008
|
Kazuki Nakajima, who was appointed as an official Williams tester earlier this week, revealed on Friday his hopes for a race seat in 2008. Nakajima, who competed in the Formula 3 Euro Series this year, will be the first graduate of Toyotas Young Driver programme to enter Formula One racing.
I will have the opportunity to drive as a test driver and hope to contribute to the team while gaining experience, explained Nakajima. My ultimate goal is to be an F1 race driver and I hope to make 2007 a year to achieve my goal.
Nakajima will work alongside race drivers Nico Rosberg and Alex Wurz, as well as fellow tester Narain Karthikeyan, on the development of the Toyota-powered FW29. He is expected to start contributing to Williams on-track testing programme before the end of the year.
The 21 year-old Japanese driver will combine his new role at Williams with a drive for the DAMS team in GP2 next year.
