Michelin prepare for French run
|
Michelin will celebrate their 2006 Formula One title success alongside world champions Renault with a special demonstration run to be held on December 12 around the streets of Clermont-Ferrand, the French city that houses the tyre companys headquarters.
Renaults Heikki Kovalainen will be the star attraction and is set to drive a R25 along the citys main thoroughfare, Avenue Julien. Kovalainens run will form the highlight of a whole day of celebration that will also include a variety of displays organised by Michelin and the Clermont-Ferrand authorities.
It is a genuine pleasure to be able to celebrate our two world titles while putting on such a spectacle for the citizens of Clermont-Ferrand, said Frederic Henry-Biabaud, Michelin Motorsports Director. We will be very happy to welcome Heikki Kovalainen and are immensely grateful to Renault for its participation - an event such as this underlines the strength of the relationship the two parties have enjoyed during many years of collaboration. We cant wait to see the city in party mood. It really will be a unique event.
The special event may mark Michelins last Formula One appearance for some time, as Bridgestone prepare to become the sports sole tyre supplier from 2007.
