Toro Rosso confirmed on Monday that three-time Champ Car champion Sebastien Bourdais will test for the team at Jerez this week. Bourdais will join the Red Bull-owned squad during their three-day session commencing Wednesday at the Spanish circuit.

The 27 year-old Frenchman, who tested for Renault back in 2002, has won the Champ Car series for the past three years and is due to defend his title in 2007 with the Newman Haas team, who have endorsed this week's Toro Rosso test.

The announcement will no doubt prompt speculation concerning Toro Rosso’s future driver line-up. Although 2006 race drivers Scott Speed and Vitantonio Liuzzi both tested for the team in Jerez last week, neither has yet been confirmed for Toro Rosso’s 2007 FIA Formula One World Championship entry.
