McLarens Tombazis in Ferrari return 03 Feb 2006
Ferrari confirmed Friday that Nicholas Tombazis is to rejoin the team next month as their new chief designer. Tombazis, formerly Ferrari's chief aerodynamicist, left for McLaren at the end of 2003.
The appointment is one of a number of staff changes announced by Ferrari, all of which will take effect on March 1. Tombazis will report to Aldo Costa, the man behind the new 248 F1, who is promoted to head of design and development.
Costa will report directly to technical director Ross Brawn, as will his predecessor Rory Byrne, who has agreed to stay on with the team in the new role of design and development consultant.
Tombazis' move marks the second significant departure from McLaren's aero department this year, following Adrian Newey's recent move to Red Bull.
