Barcelona - BMW on track 15 Feb 2006
While Ferrari, Honda and Scuderia Toro Rosso worked in Bahrain, and Williams, Red Bull Racing, McLaren Mercedes and Midland in Valencia, BMW went to Barcelona yesterday with Jacques Villeneueve and Robert Kubica.
In warm conditions the French-Canadian lapped in 1m 17.524s in the third BMW Sauber F1.06 during the course of 40 laps. His programme embraced damper testing and evaluation of numerous new components.
Kubica ran the second F1.06, and recorded a promising best lap of 1m 17.551s in an 88-lap day spent working on chassis set-up.
Nick Heidfeld takes over from the Pole today, when he will focus on set-up work in preparation for a race simulation on Thursday. Villeneuve will continue to assess dampers and Michelin tyres.
