Troubled day for Schumacher in Bahrain 20 Feb 2006
Ferrari continued their intensive test schedule at Bahrains Sakhir circuit on Monday, with mixed fortunes for drivers Felipe Massa and Michael Schumacher.
Massa, at the wheel of an F2004 chassis fitted with a restricted V10 engine, covered 124 laps with a best time of 1m 30.410s. The Brazilians programme comprised electronics and tyre work.
In contrast, Schumacher could only complete 49 laps as he hit technical problems in the new 248 F1. The German, who focussed his attentions on set-up and tyres, ended the day with a best lap of 1m 31.390s.
Schumacher and Massa will be on track again in Sakhir on Tuesday, when Ferrari are expected to complete their Bahrain programme ahead of the season-opening Grand Prix at the circuit on March 12.
