Super Aguri on track in Spain
|
The Super Aguri Formula One team began their first official test session on Tuesday morning in Barcelona. Takuma Sato was at the wheel of Honda-powered SA05 machine as it completed its first laps of the Circuit de Catalunya. It follows his shakedown run in the car at the Kimble airfield in the UK last week.
Super Aguri, headed by former Grand Prix driver Aguri Suzuki, are expected to conduct a three-day programme in Spain, with Sato handing over to team mate Yuji Ide on Wednesday, with both men then sharing driving duties on Thursday.
The interim SA05 car is based on the 2002 Arrows A23 chassis, which has been strengthened and modified to comply with current regulations. The team, who are based in Leafield (as Arrows were), are expected to introduce an all-new car later in the season.
Several teams will be testing alongside Super Aguri in Barcelona this week, including Williams, Renault, McLaren, Toyota, MF1 and Red Bull.
