Wedding bells for Villeneuve 31 May 2006
Fresh from his 14th-place finish in Sundays Monaco Grand Prix, BMW Sauber driver Jacques Villeneuve married his fiancée Johanna Martinez in a civil ceremony in Switzerland on Monday.
According to Villeneuve's official website, the marriage took place in the Chateau dAigle and was attended by 30 members of the couples families and close friends. It was followed by an evening meal in nearby Villars. A religious ceremony will be held within the next week at a church in Paris.
Villeneuve, 35, was Formula One world champion with Williams in 1997. Since then the Canadian has experienced mixed fortunes. This year he is enjoying something of a renaissance at BMW Sauber, with many saying his driving is now back to its very best. He has scored six points in 2006 and lies joint 12th in the driver standings.
