Yamamoto to race for Super Aguri in Germany 12 Jul 2006
Sakon Yamamoto will take over race duties for Super Aguri, with effect from the German Grand prix at Hockenheim later this month.
In line with founder Aguri Suzukis original intention to run an all-Japanese driver line-up, the 24 year-old Formula Nippon graduate will run alongside Takuma Sato. Current incumbent Franck Montagny is expected to continue as the teams third driver after racing in Magny-Cours this weekend.
Yamamoto impressed the Formula One fraternity in Suzuka last year when he was the third driver for Jordan. He also went well in tests for them at Silverstone, before stepping into the third driver role at Super Aguri when countryman Yuji Ide was dropped.
Super Aguri are expected to have at least one new SA06 chassis in Germany, for Sato. It remains to be seen whether Yamamoto will also get the new car.
