Ferrari begin work at Fiorano 13 Sep 2006
After their Italian victory at Monza, Ferrari made the short journey to the teams Fiorano test track on Tuesday to begin preparations for the Chinese Grand Prix, which will be held in just under three weeks time.
Official test driver Luca Badoer put the 248 F1 through its paces over a total of 86 laps. He began a tyre programme for Bridgestone and analysed new components, which the team hope to use in the last three races of the season. His fastest time over the 2.976- kilometre track was a 57.579s.
Ferrari were the first team to start their testing programme this week, clearly keen to maximise their cars performance ahead of the final flyaway races. On Wednesday they will switch to the Paul Ricard circuit in Southern France with title challenger Michael Schumacher in the driving seat.
Championship rivals Renault, meanwhile, will begin a three-day stint at Spanish track Jerez on Wednesday, alongside the Red Bull team.
