Ammermuller makes Red Bull test debut 13 Sep 2006
German driver Michael Ammermuller got his first taste of Formula One power on Wednesday when he tested with Red Bull at Jerez. Ammermuller joined Robert Doornbos as the team began their preparations for the forthcoming Chinese Grand Prix.
With Christian Klien having been released from his contract earlier this week - and Doornbos promoted into the Austrian's race seat - Red Bull now have a vacancy for a third driver at the last three races of the season. Ammermuller is an obvious candidate.
The 20-year-old has been a member of Red Bulls junior driver team since 2003 and has put in some impressive performances in GP2 this season to finish 11th from 30 drivers in the series final standings.
Red Bull are testing alongside Renault and Honda in Spain this week. Full Wednesday report to follow.
